Pioneer is named for the mascot of nearby Watauga High School that our kids attend, go Pioneers! We figured out quickly though that Pioneer isn't exactly the easiest name to call into the woods at breakfast time for the pups, so she goes by Pie. Pie is a picture perfect Bernese. She has a strong, stout and heavy build, beautiful markings, deep amber eyes and rust brown coloring. We absolutely love her muzzle freckles! She comes from a line of amazing Berners that includes five generations of champions.
--Great great great grand sire, Tannhauser Des Hautes Vernades, France champion.
--Great Great Grand Sire, Keepintouch Della Torre D'Ovarda, 2014 AKC champion and top producer of champions
--Great Grand Sire, 2014 AKC champion Braveheart Krainy Zeusa.
--Grand Sire, Buster Braveheart.
She is as sweet as they come, loves sunny afternoon walks at the local Greenway trails and has never met a stranger. She is also very smart, excelling at her training early on. In all her classes, she seems to gravitate toward getting a pet from any small children in the room. Pie's training includes:
--AKC Canine Good Citizen ("CGC")
--AKC Urban CGC
--AKC Community Canine
--AKC Star Puppy
--AKC Trick Dog: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced
--Canine Life and Social Skills
--Nose Work
Pie has a very calm disposition and is a certified therapy dog with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. She is a big hit with the students at AppState dog therapy events! She and Roman have grown up together and are best buddies. When they are together, they tend to get into some pretty funny mischief which is why they are affectionately known around the farm as "double trouble"!
